Tuesday Announcements

HOSA
There will be a HOSA meeting Thursday November 3rd after school in Mrs. Sloan's room. We will discuss several items. Please make plans to attend.

NHS
The deadline for NHS applications has been moved to 3:05 on November 4th. Please turn your completed envelope to Mrs. Roberts or Mr. Hauser by the end of that school day.

FCCLA
There will be an FCCLA meeting after school on Thursday in Mrs. Saddler's room. See Mrs. Saddler or Mrs. Sizemore if you cannot attend.

SCIENCE OLYMPAID
Science Olympiad will have its organizational meeting this Thursday after school in Mr. McCarn's room 817J.  Anyone interested in a fun science competition against area high schools is encouraged to attend.  There are 23 science events to choose from that cover all areas of science.  If you are unable to attend the meeting please see Mr. McCarn sometime this week to get information.
JR.CIVITAN
The next Junior Civitan meeting will be this Thursday, November 3rd, at 7:35am in room 604G. All members please plan to attend as we plan the rest of our events for 2016.

COAT DRIVE
Students and Faculty...do you have an extra coat lying around the house that you no longer use? Consider donating it to the 2nd Annual Forbush Junior Civitan Coat Drive! We will accept any new or gently used jackets including fleeces and hoodies. Through a partnership with the Salvation Army, all of these coats and jackets will stay local to help those in need in our own community. Our first collection date will be this Friday night, November 4th at our home football game. We will be stationed at the main gate. We will also be collecting at the home basketball games vs. Starmount on December 6th. Bring a coat this Friday and help those in need in our community!

BAND
The Bush Band is having their annual mattress sale on Saturday, November 5th, in the lobby of A building from 10am to 5pm. This money helps to replace instruments, music stands, and several other items in the classrooms. These name-brand mattresses are up to 60% off! SENIOR YEARBOOK ADS
Senior yearbook ad money and ad content is due to Ms. McCollum today November 1st. Please see the FHS website for more information and forms.

BASKETBALL
Basketball tryouts will be held through Wednesday. Anyone wanting to tryout must have an updated
physical turned into Coach Christopherson ahead of time or you will not be allowed to participate.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
All members of the women's tennis team meet in Coach Vestal's room 604G this Friday morning, November 4th, at break for important information about the season-ending banquet.

VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the Women's Volleyball Team for a successful season. The girls finished 2nd in the conference and made it to the second round of the state playoffs. All-conference Honors go to Mackenzie Fulk, Sidney Matthews and Colby Crater. All conference honorable mention are Lexia Wingler, Katie Moncus and Bailey Gentry. Lexia Wingler also received All Tournament Honors. Congratulations to these ladies.

Any volleyball player that did not meet with coach Fulk this morning during break, please stop by her room for important information.

GUIDANCE
UNC Splash is Nov 12th: Visit UNC-Chapel Hill's campus to take a variety of interesting and fun classes taught by Carolina students. UNC offers over 120 classes with topics ranging from college admissions, to self-defense, to zombies, to DNA, and beyond. The program is Saturday, November 12 from 9:30am to 5pm. Create your own schedule to maximize your learning!  Registration closes on November 5th, so don't delay. To learn more and register, visit splash.web.unc.edu or check with school counselor.  

Catalyst Conference at UNC is Feb 17-19th
Conference is an exploration of social justice issues affecting both America and the larger world. Participates develop leadership and personal skills to empower to become catalysts for positive change in your own communities. Cost is $50 for a registration fee. Financial Aid is available. SURRY CLASSES
If you are interested in taking Surry Community College spring classes 2nd semester, please see Ms. Pennix in Building G-600 on Tuesdays from 9 am – 2 pm. Most classes fill quickly so do not hesitate.

EVENTS
MARSHALL BAKER DAY TODAY NOVEMBER 1st
Today Tuesday, November 1st is Marshall Baker Day!  

Today during lunches stop by the Forbush News Team Table in the Lobby of A building to send a personal recorded message to Marshall.

Tonight at 7:00pm we will have a POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME with all proceeds going to Marshall Baker!  Admission is only $3!
