Thursday Announcements

CLUBS
FCA
Forbush FCA is partnering with Friends Feeding Friends to fight hunger in Yadkin County. Please bring non-perishable food items or money to your first period teacher

through Wednesday, December 13th. The first period that turns in the most items each Wednesday will win a FREE Breakfast from Bojangles and the class that turns in the most items over the three week period will get a Pancake Breakfast.

JR. CIVITAN
The 2nd Collection Date for the Jr. Civitan Coat Drive is Friday night, December 1st as Forbush Basketball hosts Starmount! We will be collecting new and gently used coats as you enter the games. If you have an extra coat that you aren't using, please consider donating it this Friday night!

FCCLA

CHORAL CONCERT
The Forbush Choral Department presents their Winter Concert on Monday, December 11th, at 7pm in the FHS Auditorium.

BAND CONCERT
The Forbush High School Band will present their Winter Concert on Thursday, December 14th. This concert will begin at 7pm at the Yadkin Arts Council.

YEARBOOK
Seniors, don't forget… Senior Ads for the yearbook are due December 22nd. For more information, please visit the Forbush website yearbook page under the "Students" tab.

GUIDANCE
JUNIORS AND SENIORS
The deadline to register for Spring Surry classes is December 5th.  Students must turn in Surry Application to Mrs Pennix by December 5th to start the process to register for Spring Surry classes. Do not delay, if you need to take placement testing, time is running out for Spring.  See Ms Mitze with questions ASAP.

WORKSHOP
A Financial Aid and College Planning workshop for Spanish Speakers, grades 9th -12th is scheduled for December 5th at Forbush High School in Room 230B. There are two sessions to choose from one at 1:30 pm and a second session at 5:00 pm. Participants will learn to navigate college applications and understand the financial aid process. The workshop will include information about overcoming barriers to higher education, DACA status, and preparing for success in college. Spanish Language information will be provided. For more information and to sign up to attend contact Jenny Mitze.

Please stop by the office and select a paper ornament from the Forbush Angel Tree. Unwrapped gifts with the paper ornaments taped to them are due to the office by December 8th. Student shoppers will receive two hours of community service for participation. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Gentry in the office.

There will be an organizational meeting for Science Olympiad on Thursday morning at 7:40 in Mr. McCarns room 817J.  Anyone interested in a fun science competition between other high schools is encouraged to attend.

JR. CIVITAN
The next Junior Civitan meeting will be tomorrowThursday, November 30th at 7:50am in 604G. All members please plan to attend.

The National Honor Society and Beta Induction Ceremonies will be tonight, November 27th in the auditorium. The NHS induction will start at 6pm.  
The Beta Induction will begin at 8pm.​ 
There will be a reception for 
​BOTH 
ceremonies at 7pm in the media center.  

HOSA

CAREER AND COLLEGE DAY
Forbush High will be dedicating one day to Career and College Readiness Activities tomorrow Tuesday, November 28th.  Students will report to a designated room and remain with their homeroom teacher the majority of the day. (Student Locator sheets are posted on building windows already.) Activities will be based on grade levels and testing requirements for our school. We are excited about providing the opportunity for students to network with over 45 colleges and businesses in our CCR Fair
​! This event will be 
held in the gym.

Students will be reporting to the assigned locations in the morning and remaining with their homeroom teacher in that location for the Career and College Activities for the day. Please look at the information posted on the doorways of all buildings to find your assigned meeting location by your homeroom teachers name. Sophomores and Seniors- you were given your testing site location.

HOSA

35 FHS HOSA students competed Saturday at The District 7 HOSA Competition. These students represented Forbush well and for most of these students it was their first time at competition. 14 students placed in the Top 5 and 3 placed in the Top 10! 17 of our students qualified to compete in the NC State Leadership Conference in March!  A special thank you to all teachers who helped our HOSA students prepare for this competition.


DECA 
If you failed to sign up OR you missed your test day last week, you MUST go by 303C TODAY and see when you can makeup your district online test. Testing window is closing and you will not be able to go to DECA competition if you do not take this online test.


SPORTS

All football players need to see Coach Johnson before Thanksgiving break.

WRESTLING
The Forbush Wrestling Team went 3-1 this weekend at the Falcon Duals losing only to Reagan High School.  Earning their first wins of the year , Terry Miller, Hayden Price, Nathan Kirkland, Jimmy Holmer, Armando Velasquez, Ethan Snow, Chase Rouse, Worth Martin, Jovany Pozo, and Avery Durham.  Special congratulations goes to Eli Thomas, Noah Roberts, and Chase Farmer who were undefeated!

Our FHS Angel Tree is up in the office!
1. Stop by the office and select your paper ornament from our tree! Each paper ornament has a single item listed to shop for, and on the back is complete detailed information.
2. Next go SHOP!
3. Bring the unwrapped gift to Mrs. Gentry in the office! Please be sure the paper ornament is taped securely to your gift. All gifts are due December 8th.
Students who shop will receive a total of 2 hours of community service! Ask Mrs. Gentry in the office if you have any questions. 

THEATER

Our Student Performance will be presented on November 16th during first period. 
Today is the last day to purchase tickets for the student performance.
Tickets will be on sale during all lunches. Tickets for the student day are $5.

We have two public performances scheduled for November 17th and 18th at 7:00 pm. 
Tickets are $10 per person and children under five are FREE!
