Wednesday Announcments

HOSA
There will be a HOSA meeting Thursday December 1st in Mrs. Sloan's
room. If you have not turned in your dinning attractions guides orders
to Mrs. Sloan please do so no later than Wednesday November 30th.

JR. CIVITAN
The next Jr. Civitan meeting will be Tomorrow morning, Thursday
December 1st at 7:35am in room 604G. All members please plan to attend
as we discuss plans for the spring semester and have sign-ups for 2
volunteer events. Also, members please return Salvation Army Christmas
Stockings to Coach Vestal this week.

FFA
There will be an FFA meeting tomorrow morning at break in Mrs.
Jensen's room. All members should attend.
Yesterday, Haley Flippin, Wesley Ratledge & Zach Morris competed at
the NC FFA State Livestock Judging Career Development Event. More than
600 students participated in this event. Our students represented FHS
in a mature & positive manner. Congratulations!

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Anyone planning to participate in the Science Olympiad Competition in
February needs to see Mr. McCarn this week to let him know which
events you will participate in. Also if you have not signed up there
is still time to get involved with Science Olympiad. Just see Mr.
McCarn in 817 J to get information.

SENIOR ADS
Online senior ad and payment is due December 16th. Please see the FHS
website yearbook page (under the student tab) for all the information.

BASKETBALL
The men's basketball team is off to a 3-0 start after last night's win
against West Wilkes. Their next game is this Friday against Starmount.

WRESTLING
Congratulations to the following wrestlers for picking up wins last
night: Chase Farmer, Caleb Price, Edwin Alvarenga, Cody Farmer,
Jonathan Lopez, Worth Martin, Carson Pruitt, Wayne Robichaud, Jovany
Pozo, Chris SanchezFernando Salazar, Weston Edwards, Zach Murray, and
Tannor Atwood. The Falcons lost to Mt. Airy, but picked up wins
against East Surry and North Wilkes.

Monday Announcements

VISION SCREENING
All students participating in the vision screening at Yadkinville
Elementary School should meet in Mrs. Sloan's room at 7:30 in the
morning. The bus will leave at 7:45.

HOSA
All orders for the dinning attraction books are due to Mrs Sloan today
Monday 11/21.
District competition has been rescheduled for 12/10 at West Wilkes High School.

DECA
All DECA members going to competition should attend a MANDATORY lunch
meeting today. Please come during your regular lunch period.

JROTC
Falcon Battalion JROTC placed 1st overall at the North Iredell Dill
Meet Saturday.
Forbush placed 1st in Squad with arms; squad without arms; platoon
without arms; and color guard. The LET I Cadets (first year) placed
third in squad without arms and Cadet Travis Johnson placed second in
individual with arms. Congratulations to the Falcon Battalion Drill
Team!

WRESTLING
Please congratulate Caleb Price and Edwin Alvarenga for winning the
Old App Invitational this past weekend at Watauga. Edwin was also
named the Most Outstanding wrestler of the tournament. The Falcons
wrestle again tomorrow night at home. Matches will start at 5:30 pm.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Join the FHS Basketball Cheerleaders, Santa and Mrs.Claus for pancakes
on December 10th from 8:30-11am. There will be vendors, crafts for the
kids, and a special performance by the cheerleaders. Little Wagon
Photography will also be here to take pictures with Santa (price
included in your ticket!) Cost is $10 per person and children 2 years
and under are free. Tickets are limited reserve your tickets online at
jamie.elmore@yadkin.k12.nc.us All proceeds will go towards new
uniforms for the Cheerleaders.

All new Beta inductees are reminded they must RSVP for the ceremony to Mrs. Rachel Davis in 407D by Wednesday. 
The National Honor Society and Beta Club ceremony will be Monday November 21st. National Honor Society induction will begin at 6:30

pm in the auditorium, a reception for everyone will be at 7 pm in the media center and the Beta Ceremony for new inductees will begin at 8 pm.

DECA
All DECA members attending District Competition must turn their permission forms in to Mrs. Pardue immediately.  Members should also see Mrs. Pardue today to sign up for your test date this week.
Congratulations to Austin Pardue - he is now serving as DECA's Information Management Director!

Students and Faculty...do you have an extra coat lying around the house that you no longer use? Consider donating it to the 2nd Annual Forbush Junior Civitan Coat Drive! We will accept any new or gently used jackets including fleeces and hoodies. Through a partnership with the Salvation Army, all of these coats and jackets will stay local to
help those in need in our own community. We will be collecting at the home basketball games vs. Starmount on December 6th. Bring a coat and help those in need in our community.

GUIDANCE
College Application Day is November 17th.
Deadline to Sign up is today November 10th.
Any senior planning to go to college but who has not filled out a
college applications SHOULD SIGN UP for this event.
Students will sign up by period: 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th.
When you sign up, pick up a Check List to complete prior to November
17th and have your CFNC username/password ahead of time. See school
counselors to sign up and get a pass to attend.

DECA

Skills will meet November 10th at break in 519E. Anyone competing in
Regional or State Competition needs to attend and anyone wanting to
join Skills but hasn't done so needs to attend as well. This will be
your opportunity to offset the cost associated with these trips.

BASKETBALL
The men's basketball team will scrimmage this Saturday at 10:00 vs North Stokes.   Game will be at Forbush.

CROSS COUNTRY
Please congratulate the FHS XC runners for their performance Saturday.  
The Boys came in 10th and the girls team came in 3rd.
All State runners were Dakota Mendenhall and AK Kilby.

Monday Announcements

COAT DRIVE
Students and Faculty...do you have an extra coat lying around the
house that you no longer use? Consider donating it to the 2nd Annual
Forbush Junior Civitan Coat Drive! We will accept any new or gently
used jackets including fleeces and hoodies. Through a partnership with
the Salvation Army, all of these coats and jackets will stay local to
help those in need in our own community. Our first collection date
will be this Friday night, November 4th at our home football game. We
will be stationed at the main gate. We will also be collecting at the
home basketball games vs. Starmount on December 6th. Bring a coat this
Friday and help those in need in our community.

DRAMA CLUB
Drama Club will meet tomorrow, Tuesday November 8th from 3:10-4:00.
Bring your Costumes and instruments for the Madrigal!

DECA
All DECA members going to district competition should turn their
permission forms in to Mrs. Pardue by Wednesday.
DECA will meet Wednesday after school. All District competitors must
attend the meeting.

HOSA
This week is HOSA week.
We will show our support for various cancers by wearing different
colors for each day of the week. Posters are also posted around
campus.
Monday: Orange and Lime Green for leukemia and lymphoma
Tuesday: Teal Tuesday for Ovarian Cancer
Wednesday: Pink for Breast cancer awareness
Thursday: Purple for pancreatic cancer
All members attending district competition should plan to be at school
at 7:30 this Saturday. You should be dressed in proper HOSA attire.
All fees need to be paid to Mrs Sloan. Please see Mrs Sloan for
questions.

SKILLS
Skills will meet November 10th at break in 519E. Anyone competing in
Regional or State Competition needs to attend and anyone wanting to
join Skills but hasn't done so needs to attend as well. This will be
your opportunity to offset the cost associated with these trips.

scrimmage this Saturday at 10:00 vs North Stokes at FHS.

The deadline for NHS applications is today at 3:05. Please turn your completed envelope to Mrs. Roberts or Mr. Hauser by the end of the school day.

The Bush Band is having their annual mattress sale tomorrow Saturday,
November 5th, in the lobby of A building from 10am to 5pm. This money
helps to replace instruments, music stands, and several other items in
the classrooms. These name-brand mattresses are up to 60% off! Please
contact Band Director Matthew Brusseau

College Application Day is November 17th.

2nd semester, please see Ms. Pennix in Building G-600 on Tuesdays from
9 am – 2 pm. Most classes fill quickly so do not hesitate.

McCarn sometime this week to get information.

SENIOR YEARBOOK ADS
Senior yearbook ad money and ad content is due to Ms. McCollum today November 1st. Please see the FHS website for more information and forms.

Basketball tryouts will be held through Wednesday. Anyone wanting to tryout must have an updated
physical turned into Coach Christopherson ahead of time or you will not be allowed to participate.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the Women's Volleyball Team for a successful season. The girls finished 2nd in the conference and made it to the second round of the state playoffs. All-conference Honors go to Mackenzie Fulk, Sidney Matthews and Colby Crater. All conference honorable mention are Lexia Wingler, Katie Moncus and Bailey Gentry. Lexia Wingler also received All Tournament Honors. Congratulations to these ladies.

Any volleyball player that did not meet with coach Fulk this morning during break, please stop by her room for important information.

GUIDANCE
UNC Splash is Nov 12th: Visit UNC-Chapel Hill's campus to take a variety of interesting and fun classes taught by Carolina students. UNC offers over 120 classes with topics ranging from college admissions, to self-defense, to zombies, to DNA, and beyond. The program is Saturday, November 12 from 9:30am to 5pm. Create your own schedule to maximize your learning!  Registration closes on November 5th, so don't delay. To learn more and register, visit splash.web.unc.edu or check with school counselor.  

Catalyst Conference at UNC is Feb 17-19th
Conference is an exploration of social justice issues affecting both America and the larger world. Participates develop leadership and personal skills to empower to become catalysts for positive change in your own communities. Cost is $50 for a registration fee. Financial Aid is available. Today during lunches stop by the Forbush News Team Table in the Lobby of A building to send a personal recorded message to Marshall.

Tonight at 7:00pm we will have a POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME with all proceeds going to Marshall Baker!  Admission is only $3!
